Well, maybe not, but these are some pretty amazing moments.

The Olympic Games are famous for containing incredible moments from those on camera to those behind the scenes; full of heart and soul when you read of the athletes and their stories. But if you wanted to find the best ones at the Olympics, you'd have to look in the corners where those away from the spotlight are the
most memorable, the
most inspiring.
My personal favorite would be of one that took place in Barcelona's Olympic stadium when British sprinter Derek Redmond pulled a hamstring midway through a 400-meter heat. He fell to the track; his Olympics were
over. Medics rushed to aid the fallen athlete, but he
ignored them and tried to hop his way to the finish line. His father, Jim Redmond,
burst from the stands and onto the track to support his broken son, who then buried his head into his father's neck to hide his tears. And in the end, eventually, father and son
finished and they received a
standing ovation.
Okay, okay. Enough with the tears, here are what you guys sent in as your favorite moments, and otherwise in Olympic history.

Favorite Moment: When Micheal Phelps won his first gold medal in Beijing.
Why?: Because I have always wanted to swim. I love to swim. And when I saw Him win this year I was amazed that he won. I could see his face, he looked so proud and happy. He has inspired me to keep swimming and do my best. He is great and when I see him swim, I NEVER want to miss his races. I always chant "Phelps! Phelps!" He is a hero to me and I love to watching him swim.

Favorite Moment: The Beijing 2008 Olympics Opening Ceremony.
Why? It was the grandest, most wow-ing moment I have ever seen [yet]. It was something new and has never seen before, stunning and i have never seen anything that amazing in my life. I would say it was the best Olympic opening yet.

Favorite moment: When Stephanie Rice won gold (Australia's 400th Olympic medal) in the Individual 400m Medley at the Olympics and beat the world record by 1.67. :]
Why? I just feel that its a great start to the Olympics by Australia and that Stephanie Rice has achieved so much so far and I wish her more luck to bring Australia to victory! It was also nerve wracking watching the world record line chase her up for the last 50m of freestyle, but when she won, I just felt so glad and ecstatic for her.

Favorite Moment: When Great Britain won the badminton match against China.
Why? Because badminton is one of my favorite sports and I live in Great Britain. I was happy and surprised at the same time because they were both really great teams.

Favorite Moment: When the Chinese high diving pair did their last dive. Made it perfect as one, got better scores than any other team and won the Gold medal!
Why? I picked this moment because even though I do not live in China, I think they have some GREAT talent and really earned that gold medal.

Favorite Athlete: Keren Libovitch is an Israeli Olympic swimmer who had an accident in the army which left her with both legs partly paralyzed. Although her being unable to walk, she decided to continue swimming, and had won 7 Olympic medals so far, in the Paralympics of 2000 and 2004.

Favorite Moment: I remember when Hermann Maier from Austria crashed into two fences and landed on his helmet during the downhill competition (Winter Olympics 1998) and almost died.
Why? I remember watching this part of the Olympics, and it scared me half to death because I thought he died. But it made me happy when I realized that
he was ok after all, so I liked that part the best.

Favorite moment: I have to say that my favourite moment would be this year in the Beijing Olympics. It was the only year I watched the Olympics and was the only year wanted China to win instead of my home country, Canada. Canada didn't even get a medal yet in the Olympics, and China is in the lead with the most gold medals. The most interesting was the weight lifting sport. The people lifting those weights are incredible, especially the women that can take any of the guys. This is an interesting year for the Olympics, and it feels like it was the only year I cared about it, and certain games I play do events for it, like BittyBay!
Why? I'm stunned by how much China can outdo any sport in the Olympics. Other countries did very well, but China will sure bring home the win!

Favorite Moment: My favourite moment in history is in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. An archer from Barcelona fired a flaming arrow into the cauldron lighting the flame.
Why? I choose it because it's very dramatic and required a precision shot.

Favorite Moment: In the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta when Kerry Strug completed her vault on one foot, causing the American team to win the gold medal.
Why? I picked this moment because I thought it was an amazing show of determination. Kerri did whatever it took to win, even if it meant damaging her ankle even more that, it was also her first vault. It showed how much she cared about her teammates and didn't want to let them down.

Favorite Moment: The Nigeria vs. Belgium Soccer game.
Why? Nigeria's momentum was truly one to be remembered forever, scoring 4 goals before Belgium could recover and even get one goal was one for the books. Nigeria's celebration dances were very funny also. Nigeria's midfield making outstanding pushes to get the ball inside the goal. Man, what a great game.
Thank you all for sharing! Now, I need to go grab some tissues.
